The teaser of Kedarnath had released a while back and now the official trailer has also been released. The trailer of Kedarnath sheds light on the love story of a Hindu girl and Muslim boy against the backdrop of the holy shrine of Kedarnath high in the Himalayas. Check out the teaser, the recently released trailer, see how people have reacted and find out why the movie trailer is stirring controversy:
The teaser hinted at the characters and the love story that ensues between two young people without giving any particulars. It concentrated more on the stunning location and the might of the natural calamity that befalls the idyllic pilgrimage spot.
The official trailer of Kedarnath tells us more about the characters – star crossed lovers Mansoor, a Muslim porter played by Sushant Singh Rajput and debutant Sara Ali Khan as Mukku, a young Hindu woman on a pilgrimage. Obviously there is opposition to the union and a flood intervenes to further complicate the story.
Most people have reacted positively to the trailer; appreciating the chemistry between the lead pair as well as the special effects which many thought seemed better than Thugs of Hindostan.
The daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh makes her debut in this film. Fans were appreciative of the fact that the young actor did not turn up for the launch with her entire family in tow; but chose to be at the event on her own steam.
Sushant Singh Rajput puts up a characteristically competent performance in the trailer. Rajput also received warm appreciation from his costar for being helpful to her on the sets; helping her with Hindi among other things.
Bollywood and controversy are close allies; one feeding on the other. The inter-faith romance has riled many; who have come out to decry the film and ask for its ban based on the notion that it promotes the mythical concept of ‘love jihad’.
According to one minister the movie is against the backdrop of a terrible tragedy (the 2013 Uttarakhand floods) which makes it disrespectful to Hindus. However, others feel that this is a specious charge; particularly when there are far more important things to agitate about in our country.
There are those who feel that controversy positively impacts the fortunes of a film. We have seen numerous controversies errupt before the release of movies; particularly a film such as Padmavati which became Padmavat. The controversies don’t generally do the film much harm; conversely they evoke curiosity and more people seem land up at the theatres to watch the film. One wonders if it will be a similar story for Kedarnath.
