Yes, there is a new internet challenge and this one is fairly straightforward as challenges go. This challenge has really caught on for one reason – BTS or Bangtan Sonyeondan the K-Pop superstars. These guys have a massive and dedicated following; happy to be involved in any related social media trend or challenge. Permission to Dance is a song that the band released recently. Now the #PermissionToDance challenge has really caught on.
The choreography here is relatively simpler, and it invites everyone to join in. The song is also a nod to Disability Pride Month as evidenced by the inclusion of sign language in the video. Fans have loved the song because it gives them some joy in these pandemic times, and of course, because BTS!
Individuals and groups have participated in the challenge – some following the original steps and others doing some bolder, more complex interpretations of the steps.
This group of young people is doing their own version of the dance and clearly loving it.
The challenge is giving people the opportunity to get involved in something that is fun and non-pandemic related. They can participate wherever they are, without cumbersome masks.
