While most of us work only 5 days a week, there exists a certain breed of employees who need to work on a Saturday as well. Why, you ask? Could be their targets haven’t been achieved or that there is something urgent and unforeseen which has come up. When asked (or told) to work on Saturday most of these people feel the following.
My life sucks! I’m the less fortunate amongst all my colleagues
While all your friends are getting excited about Friday nights and parties, you plan your work which you are supposed to do on Saturday. Surely, you envy your fortunate friends and consider yourself less fortunate.
Long weekends mean absolutely nothing to you
While others pray for a public holiday on Friday or on Monday for an long weekend, you know you can’t have that advantage because of that goddamn working Saturday in the middle.
No time for extended partying
Most people get both Friday and Saturday nights to party. You get only the Saturday and even then you may have to pass because you get only Sunday for household chores and may need to wake early for that. If you manage to party on a Sunday night, working with hangover on Monday is the last thing you want.
Everything is to be planned meticulously in advance
Since you have only Sunday as a week off, you need to plan your work in banks and other public offices well in advance and have to apply for leave accordingly.
You secretly wish for a non working Saturday
You pray to God to have some mercy on you and secretly wish that your Saturdays were non working. Very often you subtly hint about it to your top management as an idea to increase employee satisfaction.
