There seems to be some or other BTS related hashtag trending on Twitter every day. There are entreaties for BTS to tour different parts of the world, fans waxing eloquent about their music/looks/dance moves. I probably know all of two K-pop songs. I confess I am quite ignorant about the entire genre and am quite befuddled by this worshipful fandom. Also, I confess all those pretty boys look the same to me and I cannot even tell BTS apart from all the other copycat acts that have sprung up.
Fans of Bangtan Sonyeondan or the Bangtan Boys as BTS is also known are a committed lot. They love V, J-Hope, RM, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, and Suga and will defend their love for these seven guys to the death.
BTS has fans all across the world. They perform to packed stadiums in many different countries and have an estimated 22million+ fan base distributed into hundreds of fan clubs.
If you tell me they are all the same person, I will believe you. I really have no clue.
There are many fans who don’t understand the lyric of the songs – but that doesn’t matter – to fans of the guys dubbed “Princes of Pop” by Time.
BTS has had a huge cultural impact. They even have a significant fan following among the 50s and 60s demographic. According to Billboard's senior VP, the band is in the league of the Beatles and The Monkees in terms of influence (Beatles? That’s just going too far!)
BTS has taken Korean culture, known as Hallyu to the world; which now has about 90 million fans worldwide.
BTS' fanclub, ARMY is a force to reckon with. They wear their hearts on their sleeve. They are dedicated; even obsessed about the band and aren't shy of declaring their devotion. So that explains the daily hashtags on Twitter.
Sorry it’s not BTS, but it is a madly catchy song by the K-pop outfit called BLACKPINK. The other one? Well Gangman Style ---duh!
