People on social media are happy to elevate the most minor of inconveniences to the most terrible of tragedies. If YouTube is down for some time, one simply manages without cute dog videos or the funny antics of a fave YouTuber or whatever the hell it is that one needs a steady diet of. But no! YouTube was down and people are aggrieved enough to trend #YouTubeDOWN.
It wasn’t down for long. In fact, by the time some memers made their memes, it was up again.
Apparently, it had happened before. Shocking!
How will people now watch silly, inconsequential videos to keep themselves entertained?
How dare YouTube be down!
Turning the Wi-Fi on and off --- the first response of every 24x7 connected person.
Turning the router on and off kept people busy for a time.
It is a little like kicking the punctured tyre of a vehicle. Absolutely no use, but it makes us feel a little better.
Some wasted time doing this.
Checking Twitter to see if YouTube is down and finding that #YouTubeDOWN is trending – very reassuring!
Tweeple must have a lot of time on their hands to be able to make memes and jokes about every outage like this.
When the Wi-Fi on-off thing didn’t work, some proceeded to get even angrier.
When all else fails, delete the app, and reinstall.
2020 has been a terrible year for a whole lot of reasons. And with more people spending time online, crashes are more likely than ever.
So what if there is no YouTube – plenty more fish in the ocean that is the internet.
YouTube was back up. The YouTubers left Twitter to go back to wherever it was they had emerged from.
YouTube was up and running soon enough. However, tweeple who had taken the trouble to create those #YouTubeDOWN decided to tweet them anyway… because why not.
