The New York Fashion Week has started and this time Indians are making it big. From Reshma Querishi to Sunny Leone, there is much buzz that makes us proud. Here are some of the best moments of #NYFW that are a must watch.
On the very first day of New York Fashion Week, Reshma Qureshi made her runway debut. An acid attack survivor, she says, "do not see us in a weak light". She walked the ramp wearing a stunning cream and floral floor-length gown” designed by Archana Kochhar. This is her way to saying, #TakeBeautyBack.
Sunny Leone became the first Bollywood star to walk the ramp at the New York Fashion week. She looked completely resplendent as the showstopper in an ivory gown. This was again from the Archana Kochhar collection.
Vaishali Shadangule also found her ground in the #NYFW. Showcasing her collection along with designers like Vera Wang, Tom Ford, Anna Sui and Alexandra Wang, she proved that she is here to stay. Vaishali's collection includes a lot of black, off-whites, neutrals and shades from the blue colour family among the woven textures and thread-work of her designs.
The India born, New York based designers Sachin and Babi Alhuwalia, showcased their beautiful collection titled On Pointe: Strength Within Grace. The collection was inspired by the ballet dancers and their graceful motions.
Amruta Fadnavis, who is the wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis also walked the #NYFW ramp to promote education for the girl child and Indian handlooms. Amruta was the showstopper for Chasa Institute of Design and Technology, a Pune-based college that educates many economically disadvantaged students.
Even though she didn't walk the ramp, she continued to be her sexy self. She showed up for the American-Thai designer Thakoon Panichgul's show at the Brooklyn bridge and completely captured the limelight.
This dishoom actress also made a splash at the New York Fashion Week. Jacqueline is the brand ambassador for TRESemme in India and the hair care line is the official backstage partner at New York Fashion Week.
"The whole vibe is all about taking fashion and style a notch higher, and that's totally me. I cannot wait to take away some great beauty and fashion trends from there," she told IANS before leaving for New York.
The New York Fashion Week has definitely been an event to remember this year with Reshma and our designers completely stealing the show. We hope the #NYFW 2017, sees more participants and the beauty of India gets its due worth.
