Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are constantly in competition for the Richest in the World top spot – most of the time it is the founder of Amazon at the top spot, sometimes Tesla’s Musk edges him out. Sometimes they also 'chat' on Twitter. Such as this time when Jeff Bezos shared an old article predicting the failure of his company Amazon. Elon Musk and others responded:
Maybe he was just boasting. Maybe he really meant for this to be a motivational post about believing in one's own success. Or maybe he just wanted to rub the writer’s face in his own extremely inaccurate prediction. Whatever it was, Bezos tweeted this article that had called Amazon ‘just another middleman’ and predicted the company’s demise.
Other trade pundits had had different predictions for Amazon and its growth story.
People have been inspired by Bezos for many years now, such as this guy was with the Time magazine cover.
There are a lot of people who admire Bezos for this business acumen and his entrepreneurial vision as well as his meteoric rise from genuinely humble beginnings.
Some believe that Amazon's business model is actually just that of a distributor or a middleman; that his incredible success owes itself more to luck than actual genius.
Of course, numerous replies to the tweet levelled accusations against Bezos for the poor working conditions at Amazon.
While Bezos has legions of haters, he does also have admirers who will defend him and his policies.
When people are doubtful of one’s abilities and predict one's downfall, the success that follows is even sweeter.
While some employees tend to be unhappy working with Amazon, some seem very happy. They also refute the Amazon-doesn’t-allow-employees-bathroom-breaks charge.

Right now Bezos may be top dog but Elon Musk has overtaken him more than once. This number 2 medal seems to be a childish taunt for that. Hmm… so clearly billionaires are not above schoolyard tactics to try and show each other down? Somehow that makes me feel a little better about myself as someone with far more modest means.
