I remember in school, we didn’t just have April Fool’s day but an entire month – of fooling and playing pranks on our friends. Because why not! And there were also chants that accompanied a successful prank: April fool, dabba gul, dabbe me pencil teri shaadi cancel!! April fool dabba gul dabbe mai joker tu mera naukar!! and things like that. This may seem like some juvenile tradition but serves as a much-needed yearly reminder to adults all over the world; not to take themselves too seriously.
It is a reminder to take a break, have some fun and not to be burdened down with life’s thousand little problems.
Trust no one
Otherwise sane people can become pranksters on said day – no one is safe!
For a bit we are delighted to read something like this – we even Google the ‘news’ and then we realise what the date on the calendar is. In reality, fuel prices have been rising steadily over the past two weeks – which strangely coincided with the end of the assembly elections.
Some were like – this is just like every other day… some people have to deal with fools every day.
They spent their time avoiding all the April Fool's memes and ‘jokes’ on social media.
There are some jokes that just aren't funny – because if it punches down, it isn't funny.
They made this video about shoes with USB charging ports – it was a joke. Those who signed up got discount coupons… good marketing!
Delivering from anywhere in the world – maybe.
It was announced that Tesla is filing for bankruptcy – followed by a tweet that reminded people of the date (so that investors and Elon Musk fans didn't get heart attacks).
An old pic that means a lot to a lot of people…
...Of course there were these April Fool's posts as well
But not for long (the spelling errors are deliberate – to underline why so many have been asking for that edit button)
Some were in disbelief that Twitter seemed to finally be giving users what they want.
That was Twitter's April Fool prank.
