Looking At What Students, Their Parents And Teachers Have To Put Up With, In Each Other

The Indian student (and the Indian teacher) is a unique breed. We are known for being very hardworking, excellent at mugging-up stuff and being really clued in to the system. We love going abroad to study but are even more proud if we get into our own med schools and IITs and premier management institutions. Plus we are very respectful of our teachers. Some of us love our teachers; others not so much Do you recognize these students/ teachers? Are you or have you been one?

Everyone thinks all Indians want to be engineers

At least people abroad seem to think so; script writers in Hollywood certainly seem to think so.

All Indian parents want their kids to be engineers…

….Whereas the kids themselves want to become Chetan Bhagat. At least Bollywood thinks so.

This is what the actual engineers think

Our top engineering colleges are known to be amongst the most difficult to get into and as difficult to survive in.

Some Indian students love board exams

They know every line in their text books, study tirelessly and systematically and wait for the exams because they know they're going to ace them.

Some hate exams – of all types

Recognize this guy? Or perhaps that actually was you though school and college?

Where you sit in class says a lot

If you're in the front row, you're an enthu cutlet. If you're a back bencher, you like to eat or sleep in class. If you sit in the centre you're most likely to be elected class representative. Hey! I didn’t make those rules!

Indian parents study as hard…

….as their kids. Bad marks are not an option. EVER!

Because of your bad marks…

….are your parents’ bad marks! And because emotional blackmail is the birthright of every Indian parent!

Did you ever hear your teacher say these?

“Is this a fish market? ” “I want pin drop silence”, “did you forget to eat; how can you forget your homework/book/assignment?” You did? Clearly you studied in India.

Some teachers are actually nice

They threaten fire and brimstone at times, but it’s only for the students’ own good, after all!

But some teachers are actually cruel

They just don’t want their students to be happy! Right? If students seem happy, they worry!

Some teachers look for other ways to make life miserable

They have plenty of ideas

Such as these

Was that a difficult exam paper? Yeh saazish hai, milord you want to yell out!

So for some of us…

This is teachers’ day

But for others…

Our teachers have been our inspiration, encouragement, role model and more! So here’s wishing all the awesome teachers out there a Happy Teachers’ Day!
