Since people such as Kamlesh Vaswani, the lawyer from Indore have taken it upon themselves to rid the country of the terrible scourge of pornography… you know that which is responsible for all the rapes and heinous crimes in the country, we have had courts stuck in a “should-we-shouldn’t-we”, “can-we-can’t-we” back and forth. There was a semblance of sanity in August 2015 when the court said We cannot become a totalitarian state, opining that what adults do in the privacy of their bedrooms is their own concern.
Now however the court has performed a U-turn and has asked the authorities to find “ways and means” to block “blue films” (now there’s an Andy Warhol-esque term we haven’t heard in a while!). Several questions arise: who will do this? Is it even possible to do this? And is it because MAGGI is BACK?
There are people who are going to be very sad
I’m not talking about just this poor “apna haath jagannath” sort of guy on the street. ISP providers and their lawyers are dismayed too… it isn’t just difficult; blocking entire websites completely is well nigh impossible apparently.
Hostel students ka kya hoga!
You know how via a satire site, some bereaved hostel students vented their spleen on simultaneous Maggi and porn bans? Since Maggi has been restored to its rightful place as the junk food beloved of hostel students everywhere, did they think to snatch away their other source of succor?
There are those who will be very upset
They will have to find other ways and means…
Particularly engineering students!
Got to feel for these guys. By all accounts they will be the worst affected.
Some may not mind though
A joke in terribly poor taste you say? Well some say the same about the #PornBan.
So will we see a return of FTV?
People are now scanning TV listings in search of late night FTV programmes that used to feature topless anorexic models. It is not ideal, but apparently it will have to do.
What will politicians now do now!
Our politicians, bless them, have shown us the way by watching porn instead of attending to matters of state; a mere bagatelle by comparison. If porn is banned, what will they do with their phones, iPads and other gizmos!
Thos ewho have to will find a way around the #PornBan
Lets face it, we are a race that is rightly proud of our ability for ‘judaad’. Porn Ban? Lets see how this one plays out, then. Ahem! Can we expect them to tear down historical monuments next?
