Some of our politicians may be trying hard to reject the entire idea of Valentine’s Day as un-Indian, but many Indians seem to disagree. There is an entire industry built about the day; in fact, there is Valentine's Week that starts a week prior to 14th February. 7th is Rose Day, 8th is Propose Day, 10th is Chocolate Day, 10th is Teddy Day, 11th is Promise Day, 12th is Hug Day, 13th is Kiss Day. Some types of chocolates are more appreciated than others.
…Just waited.
Things go wrong
And then there is Teddy Day --- yet another creation of clever marketing; yet another way to make us part with our money at the altar of sentimentality. But then when you think about it, we tend to take our loved ones rather for granted for the rest of the year. If there are some days of the year that remind us to express our love and appreciation, maybe that's a good thing?
