Now as a foodie I am frequently appalled by some of the dreadful food crimes people commit online, mostly for some social media fame and following. There is the chicken tikka chai, and rose Maggi, Oreo Maggi, and Nutella biryani, Maggi milkshake and cheese paan. I'm not against fusion foods – I could try pizza in a cone for instance. It is the sweet-savoury combinations that I have a problem with. When I heard about butter chicken gold gappa, I thought, hey maybe this may not be the most terrible idea – both savoury, combination of one gravy one crisp item.
No one needs this, said the tweet; obviously horrified at what someone had dreamed up.
Kill me, kill me now! Was the reaction from some of the tweeple.
Remaking movies, songs and food --- don’t do it!
A food crime.
People felt that something like this is an insult to both items included in the fusion dish.
This is fusion food no one asked for, said another tweet.
Some ventured another opinion – butter chicken with a bit of crunch may not be a bad idea. A corn and cheese samosa or a paneer samosa is still a samosa after all.
Such fusion dishes are apparently quite popular with younger people who like to be seen as trendy and/or willing to try something new.
Apparently this Twitter user loves butter chicken in any form – even in omelet form.
Maybe we are too set in our ways and our tastes? It may be a good idea to unlearn our dislikes and open our minds to something new, suggests this tweet.
Why not, said many of the tweeple. Many love gol gappa or paani puri and they also love butter chicken. So why not try having both together?
