In my family, innocuous combinations such as ketchup and scrambled eggs, jam with masala omelette are frowned upon. So I can understand the outrage that greets mention of strange and unconventional food combinations;, particularly sweet-savoury amalgamations. Remember sweet rose Maggi? Well now there has been a new assault on the taste buds in the form of chicken tikka dipped in tea.
This post on Reddit said “Hi! I'm new to India. I hope I'm doing this right.” The accompanying video showed meduwada and idli and a person who then proceeded to dunk idli into a cup of coffee.
One good turn deserves another. So when someone suggested one foul concoction another suggested something as foul.
Several commentators felt that such food combos constitute crimes against humanity and should attract exemplary punishment. Someone on Twitter even demanded the death penalty for this ‘psychopath’.
Why blame that tea and coffee dipper? Someone had the brilliant idea to make sweet rose Maggi not so long ago, remember?
Someone dreamed up chocolate dosa – is that not a crime against the culinary arts? This waste of a good dosa, chocolate syrup, fruit and nuts also disillusioned many.
The only good thing about Kurkure is that it is crisp. If you mix Kurkure and milk, even that is negated!
Gulab Jamun in pav? Why? Is this not a sign of derangement?
Another twisted mind dreamed up dal makhni cappuccino. A lot of people took this personally too. I am almost scared --- what horrid fusion food ideas does 2020 hold in store for us?
