Downward Tilting Toilets –Mistake or Solution?

If one saw a downward tilting commode one would assume that it’s a mistake, made by someone who didn’t know their job too well. Turns out, the sloping loo may not always be an aberration but an actual solution. Of course the tweeple had a lot to say about the sloping toilet:

Downward sloping toilet

These uniquely designed toilets are designed this way purposefully. The 'benefit' is that after a few minutes it becomes so uncomfortable to sit on, that the person will not occupy the loo for too long. This is supposed to improve employee productivity.

Candy Crush players

This toilet could be a no-no for everyone who uses their loo break to play Candy Crush, make a move or Words with Friends, check their Instagram feed or view the headlines.

Not guilty

Extra-long loo break is sometimes deliberate - some employees feel it is justified because there seems to be a poor correlation between productivity and salaries and there is not much incentive to increase productivity.

What about those with illnesses?

Many were infuriated with the idea would genuinely pose a problem for people with digestive issues.

Cruel

This commentator sarcastically suggests that the management should go ahead and just start torturing employees to get them to work more.

Sexist

They also make things difficult for women who need to spend more time on the toilet on certain days of the month.

Ableist

Several commentators pointed out that such toilets would be difficult for people with disabilities to use.

Stinker!

To be clear, the idea is a stinker according to this commentator.

Some had this solution

Maybe it is the employers and not the employees that need to be punished --- for thinking up something so evil?

Another solution

Sit facing the other way, suggested this commentator.

Another solution for the ‘cruelty toilet’

There are those who are already thinking up products to counter the evil idea of the sloping toilet.

This could work

This commentator shared yet another idea to counter the dark intent of the tilted toilet.

Bottom line

This commentator feels that the 13 degree tilted toilet will be counterproductive. Even if it successfully shortens look breaks, it is unlikely to impact productivity in any positive manner. I think I have to agree.
