By now we are all familiar with the disgraceful behaviour of English football hooligans attacking Italian fans, indulging in vandalism and even trying to burn a flag after losing the Euro Cup. So clearly there is much that Italian fans would disagree upon, with their British fans. Turns out however that there is something that they unite on as well – a revolting invention called fish & chips pizza.
Pizza here is of course, a stand-in for Italians and presumably the Italian team. Fish and Chips is what the Brits love. So this is how some framed the football clash.
Some English football fans cancelled plans to have pizza. Others thought they were being disloyal by opting for it.
Someone posted this: a ‘crispy fish & chips (WTF) pizza with lemon, potato slices (WTF) basil, tartar sauce (seriously WTF) and tomato sauce from Dominos. What an abomination! And as the tweet says, it is something that insults both England and Italy. Fans of both countries agree.
True, it is easier to insult stodgy British food than Italian cuisine. It can be argued that there is little it has given to the world other than baked beans.
One reply said that they were going to try out the fish & chips pizza – from the conversation, it seems as though Dominos, is begging people to try out their foul creation --- for free.
What did I just see! That is a full English breakfast – eggs, sausages, ham, baked beans, mushrooms and tomatoes – on a pizza.
A Carvery Calzone or a folded pizza stuffed with a traditional English roast.
Some didn’t mind the fish & chips on the pizza so much as lemon slices with the rind.
Some felt that there is a possible reason behind some of these abominations being tried out in Japan.
How can a pizza with a potato topping be called ‘classic’? Fair point.
Corn is quite common on pizza in India – elsewhere they probably think of it as exotic.
Dominos issued this tongue in cheek ‘apology’ for the pizza that ‘caused so much trouble’. Nice of them. Also, clever! Great for marketing something as deplorable as a fish and chips pizza – something that otherwise would simply make us go WTF.
