First World Problems Most Indians Don’t Identify With

Most Indians have problems such as poor governance and law enforcement, sanitation, bad roads, power outages, pollution, corruption and non-delivery of state services, etc. We have our basic roti-kapda-makaan sort of problems that make each day a struggle. Even the more fortunate among us still have our bijli-paani-sadak problems. All this is taken for granted in the so-called Frist World countries and their so-called problems are very different from ours.

First World problems

There is more than enough to eat and hygiene is a given. So their problems are a little different than those of lots of Indians who cannot afford neither a full belly nor proper dental hygiene.

‘Problems’

A salad with too much dressing wouldn’t be considered a problem in most places.

Problems of plenty

Usually, first world problems are the problems of plenty, not the problems of scarcity; not basic roti-kapda-makaan type problems.

Oh the agony!

Striving to go on with life in the face of crushing odds! Don’t laugh – papercuts are painful and this is heroic!

Expensive problems

They have access to a pool own a pool. Those are some expensive problems – we don’t have those... even those of us with advanced bijli-paani-sadak problems.

When work…

…Interferes with leisure. This is a problem millions of Indians are looking to have.

Being misunderstood

Things have to be just right – because if they are not, that is a problem. After all nuance is important.

Even pets have different problems

First world pets have problems such as these – certainly not the problems of having a ‘dog’s life’.

What tragedy looks like

This guy has buyers’ remorse. Not because his builder cheated him out of his lifetime savings or something – but because he didn’t do his due diligence while making a simple purchase.

Oh the pain!

When one owns an expensive car – that isn't expensive enough.

When kids fall ill

Except that they are not actual kids. And it’s not an illness. So in short, first world problems are those that most Indians wish they had.
