I go to a state-of-the-art fitness centre every day, and it costs me nothing! Yes, you read that right. I have got a membership for FREE! No, I don't own the gym. Neither am I related to the owner. And, no, I am definitely not having an affair with the trainer!
I went a 100% legal route, in fact, a funny route for that matter. I know you are getting excited, or even wondering what did I do to bag this. I got it for free, while everyone else is shedding big bucks from their pocket for this? This isn't fair, right? Hold on to your thought. I will reveal the secret sauce in just a while. But for that, we need to back up the story a little.
I wasn't always the fitness freak that I am now. In fact, I thought who really goes to the gym? I am not fat. I am not a body-builder. I am a petite woman who can eat whatever she likes, without even putting on any weight. Jealous much? You are not the only one; all my friends are. So, naturally, I thought I don't need a gym. Not in my wildest dreams!
But oh boy, I couldn't have been more wrong! In your twenties, you don't really bother about your health too much. You look in the mirror, you look fit. You are good to go. The world is a happy fun place. But wait a second . . . until you start getting health problems. And even before you know it, everything starts falling apart. You see, our body is like a complex mechanism: you have one faulty part, and the whole system starts crumbling down.
Well, so that's what happened to me. I went to a doctor for a simple check-up. And as I started doing tests after tests, problems started showing up. High cholesterol, hypothyroidism and what not.
Was that even possible? Just a few days ago, I was cheering on the highs of life and thought I could win the world. And here I was, defeated by my own ways. I knew I had to stop and take care of my health. How wrong was I in thinking that workouts were only for the obese? And in my quest for a healthy lifestyle, I went hunting for fitness centres.
But fitness centres are expensive! Just then, a friend casually suggested, to ask for an offer. Initially, I laughed at it wondering why would any successful fitness centre give me an offer. They already have people queuing in who would willingly pay the full amount. But nevertheless, I decided to write to them.
First of all, congratulations on your huge success!
I am looking to book a membership at your centre. But the offer previously available has been withdrawn. I would kindly request you to make that offer active again. I have heard high recommendations about the centres and I am very excited to be a part of this gigantic fitness revolution!
If you are not convinced still, here are 10 other reasons why I think you should definitely give me an offer:
1. I am a super friendly person. So, I easily make friends and therefore, I will be recommending your centre to all my friends and my acquaintances. Although I doubt, if it will be required at all, since your brand is already a huge success. But of course, the more the merrier.
2. I have a very large family. And we are extremely fond of our sugars and sweets. Hence, it won't be long when all of my overweight aunties and uncles ask me to look up for a good fitness centre. And guess which one will I suggest? Yours, of course!
3. However, I believe fitness is for everyone. Even my 10-year-old niece knows about it (thanks to your large billboards all over the city!) and can't wait to hopefully join your centre when she is ready.
4. I know you strongly believe in fitness and wish that everyone takes their health seriously. So, here's someone who wants to take fitness seriously. Thus, why not give her a chance?
5. When our cook doesn't show up, guess where do we order from? From your food app! Why? Because it is healthy and close to home-made food. Yes, so we are already very loyal customers!
6. I also wish to be an entrepreneur someday. So, this is a humble request from a budding entrepreneur to a highly successful one. If we don't look out for each other, who will? Right?
7. Your centre is right outside my home. You are all over the city and I can join any centre even if I move. Where else will I get this feasibility?
8. Well, you could say why don't I try other centres, if I don't have enough money? Why should I when I can have the best?
9. I recently left my job and I am practically broke.
10. So, Please!
So here I was, hoping that they would consider me for a discount, and I would at least make them laugh, if nothing. But they found it to be so hilarious and my approach, out-of-the-box, that they decided to give me the membership for free!
Therefore, if there is anything you can learn from this, is to be fearless and go out of the way to get what you want. I could have easily stepped down thinking that I was going to make a fool out of myself. And trust me, most of the times, we tell ourselves down because we are too afraid. That dream project you have always wanted to work in, the food-truck you have wanted to start, the book you have wanted to write: it could be anything you have wished for. Don't let ‘you’ scare yourself. Most of the times, it's not someone outside, but you yourself who holds back. What will happen? How can I do this?
Always remember that it's not for you to decide. You do your thing. You give your best, you be who you want to be, and let the universe do its magic! Do not hesitate, because, in the process, there's always something wonderful you will stumble upon. Like how you just read a fun post and learnt a life lesson, even from a simple story of a girl getting a free deal!
