Samosa with Unique IDs? Tweeple Have Some Answers

We are now used to owning various gadgets with unique ID numbers, which makes for ease of registration, invoking warranties and so on. Using our phones to scan random barcodes on books and practically any product to get more information about these, is also now routine. But we haven’t found such numbers and barcodes on the food that we eat…until now. Samosas were seen to have unique identification numbers and the tweeple obviously had a lot to say.

Samosas stamped with numbers?

In this tweeted image, letters/numbers are clearly seen stamped on the crisp seam of the samosa.  The tweet asked ‘can tech please say away from my halwai’. It’s a reasonable ask – we don’t want that everything we eat should have a unique number stamped on it – it’s just… weird.

Possible explanations

This facetious reply suggests possible reasons for the alphanumeric code stamped into the samosa – to get more info about ingredients, batch number and for customer feedback.

People liked it

Whatever the reason, people seemed to like the novelty of these unique ID samosas.

Or this

Hush! Some conspiracy theorists will actually believe this to be a fact.

Samosa Party replied

If we can have unique IDs stamped on jewellery, gold and silver made by a ‘sonar’ (goldsmith or jeweller), why not on products made by a halwai (sweet vendor)?

Awesome

This is an idea used by a new samosa outlet called Samosa Party; a Bangalore brand that is also available in Gurgaon.

Sounds like good idea

The brand offers many different types of samosas such as traditional potato, paneer, corn & cheese, noodle samosas and more. Desserts, chaat, tea and other meals are also on the menu.

Creating a buzz

Samosa Party seems to be getting a lot of love from the tweeple right now.

Come here please

People from cities other than Bangalore and Gurgaon want Samosa Party to open up its stores in their cities as well.

Samosas are ‘sacred’

This is true for a lot of people – when "serial number" samosas get an up-vote from someone like this, it has to count for something.

Great idea

Since there are so many different varieties of samosas, the code number stamped into the samosa makes sound good sense.

I want!

With variations like butter/achari paneer, Mumbai bhaaji, daal, molten chocolate, egg, chicken & cheese and mutton kheema samosa, I also want! Samosa Party seems on to a good idea – there are a lot of samosa lovers around that are saying shut up and take my money.
