Sometimes we wonder why people create new things – is novelty a good enough reason to create something? For instance, there is a cabin someone built in what appears to be the middle of nowhere: it seems interesting, but rather inconvenient and very small. What possible use could this be? People had this to say about the modern cabin in Norway:
These are the PAN Treetop Cabins of treehouses but without trees designed by a Norwegian architectural studio. These cabins, consisting of 40 square mts., have heated floors, showers, kitchenettes, lofts with double beds and other mod-cons. Located at Finnskogen, these cabins are about a two-hour drive from Oslo and are equipped to host guests.
Some thought it was all a waste. They wondered about the design and wondered how much it would cost to heat a place like this.
Creating something beautiful and unique is worth the effort and resource expenditure felt some.
Something like this may not be suitable for regular use, but it may be good for a change; for a few days away from it all.
Homes on stilts or such scaffolding have been around for a while. Many loved the idea of staying someplace like this.
Those spindly looking legs the cabin sits upon do not look very stable. What if there is a blizzard asked some.
That bridge and then the spiral staircase to come down did not find favour… why not this instead!
Someone suggested a design alternative.
What is the reason for this kind of design, unless one is trying to escape wild animals? Some were clearly concerned about their poor old joints having to climb up that cramped looking spiral staircase.
Carrying something up would be difficult too. And what if someone got sick? There is certainly no place for a stretcher, said someone who may or may not be a paramedic.
If one is escaping from a zombie apocalypse, this would make sense. Otherwise…
Maybe if one is trying to escape the flooding of a river, this would make sense.
Does the cabin contain a loo? If so where are the plumbing and drainage pipes?
It would take a long time to get into a house like this – wonder how James Bond would manage in a chase?
With the Russian invasion of Ukraine still a reality, people are wondering whether Ukrainians are going to have to rethink their housing situation.
Quite honestly, if I were asked to pick a cabin in Norway, I would pick this rustic, cosy-looking log cabin rather than the one perched high up and looking not-too-reliable.
