This classy restaurant is located inside Atlantis, The Palm, where guests walk down a spiral stairway that opens out into a beautiful aquarium. Try their unique and lip smacking food like the Lobster Bisque made from the choicest of Lobsters and served with Truffle oil or their half Cornish Hen marinated in Peri-Peri oil and served with potatoes.
Beware acrophobics! This one is not for the faint of heart. Located 122 storeys up in the world’s tallest building, Atmosphere is not your run of the mill restaurant. Their breakfast spread is downright exotic with melt in the mouth savouries and sweet sensations that would leave you wanting more. Try their organic Greek Yoghurt Parfait with slow cooked Pears and team it up with Organic Omelettes and Sweet Crepes. Their Chocolate Chiboust Waffle is to die for. Each bite you take and every time you glance at the captivating view from the height, it will make this one a very enthralling experience.
The erstwhile Dubai had fishing and pearl diving as its mainstay economy. Today you can reincarnate the experience by dining at a Dhow at Aprons and Hammers. This old Dhow has been revived and refurbished and has mastered the art of serving scrumptious Lobsters, Crabs and Starfish. Made in a dozen different ways, you can eat to your heart’s content. They are served up in tin buckets and you need to learn the art of scooping them out and using those hammers to break open the shells. The sailing vessel theme is uncanny - a la fishing nets that shield the tables from the sun.
Donut shaped dinghy
We are not talking donuts here. But a rubber dinghy that is shaped like a donut and comfortably seats 6 people with a central grilling station to satisfy all your meaty needs. In Dubai, traditional barbecuing on your balcony is deemed as boring. But sitting on a plump, round dinghy, sipping on wine, eating succulent meat as you float away into the Arabian Sea is an experience few places in the world offer. Don’t ditch it till you try it.
The Royal Express is meant to evoke memories of imperialism and colonial times, of mouth-watering preparations that were only served to Maharajas (Kings). Themed on the Royal Express luxury train in India, it is permanently stationed at the Admiral Plaza hotel and has everything that reminds you of a train, the slow chug-chugging of the wheels, the toot- toot of the horn, waiters dressed as porters and announcements made in Hindi.
Their philosophy is simple and guarantees customer satisfaction. Reduce or eliminate the ability of one sense in order to heighten the others. The mantra works wonders as you dine at Noire. You are briefed and then escorted to your table in pitch dark by waiters who are dressed in night vision goggles. It’s a 3 course menu and each course paired with a lustrous wine. As each course is bought out, your palate is tormented, teased and tricked as you have to navigate your plate. The guessing games can be exciting as customers often confuse fish for beef and vice versa. The meaty dishes leave you guessing and the dessert is a combination of vanilla, chocolate and coffee served piece by piece. Using your sense to enjoy the foods and guessing the ingredients, makes this one unique experience.
