Recently, restaurant and food delivery app Zomato asked a question on Twitter about creative restaurant names. This went viral and the tweeple obliged with some funny ones – some names that were invocations to the almighty, some that sounded exceedingly rude and others that seemed to have a fairly realistic sense of self:
Zomato asked the tweeple to send in their contributions of the most creative, unusual restaurant names.
Well-fed or just fed up? Perhaps this name was born out of someone trying to be funny, or just someone without much insight into idiomatic English usage.
Could it be a spelling error? Was something lost in translation? Could it just be that the proprietor /name-giver had zero f**ks to give?
This guy invoked the almighty and decided to leave the success of their restaurant entirely to God.
Could this be a mistake of some sort or just acknowledgement of aukat extreme honesty?
Not sure what they were trying to say or not say but more than one reply to this tweet said that the food of this restaurant is actually very good! So clearly, Shakespeare was right when he said what’s in a name
This Marathi restaurant name translates to – mummy I'm hungry. Now where have we heard this before?
Pretty sure they were aiming to let people know that this was biryani made in the dum pukht style (slow cooked in a sealed container) and not stupid biryani.
Is it the chicken, the biryani or the person making it?
I am pretty sure that the message isn’t about chickens that were vegetarian when alive. This guy probably means he is serving a vegetarian meat substitute (most likely soya chaap).
“Thagoo ke Laddoo” proudly announces that there is no one they haven’t fooled (loose translation). A confession or just a clever marketing gambit?
That may be a fairly disgusting name, but it doesn’t seem to stop people lining up for whatever Potty is offering.
Does a second wife run the café? Or is this a café that serves second wives? The clientele would be fairly limited if so.
There are plenty of ‘Haveli’ restaurants across north India. This restaurant is clearly aiming for something to set it apart --- such as a popular meme.
This Twitter user seems to have seen this with their very own eyes.
They were aiming for hut or kutiya with a hard T. Most however, are going to pronounce it with a soft T which translates to female of the canine species.

Many of the ‘creative’ restaurant names people shared in response to Zomato's question are such --- open to interpretation and hence hilarious.
