99% In CBSE Exams? How Is This Even Possible!

The class XII CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) exam results came out yesterday. People like me, who had felt reasonably happy with a modest 70% result years ago, are simply amazed at the sort of marks kids now manage to secure. Kids have managed to score 99% marks, which is just mindboggling! Evidently, the CBSE results boggled the mind of Twitter as well.

Suddenly

Kids weren’t expecting their results to be announced for several days. The announcement came unexpectedly and earlier than imagined. It was the same as last year.

Expectation vs reality

A lot of kids were really confident right after their exams. However, when the results came in, their confidence turned out to be misplaced.

12th topper

499 out of 500? That is insane! And she bemoans losing that one mark in English – feels she should have ‘concentrated more’ on studies.

Girl power?

Two girls scored 499 out of 500. That is… say it with me… insane!

What??

For an overwhelming majority of people, these marks aren’t just out of reach; they are incomprehensible.

Some scored below expectations

There are some kids who are used to getting really high marks. When they don’t, there is deep anger and reproach; a grief-stricken atmosphere in the family.

Some kids were like…

A great number of kids and their parents are likely to have been disappointed by the results. The cut-offs are crazy and the pressure on kids is tremendous!

For those kids

The children who haven’t done too well in their exams are going to have to suffer all manner of admonishment and gratuitous advice from pretty much everyone.

Students may want to remain tight lipped

Maybe they didn’t score too well. Maybe they just don’t want to shout it all out from the rooftops.

But relatives be like…

One may not have heard from them in ages but on result day they are suddenly in touch.

“Kya result aaya beta?”

They are relentlessly inquisitive and not particularly sympathetic about bad results.

Nothing will help

The kid may run, may hide. The relatives and neighbours will still inundate that poor kid with commiseration, unwanted advice and other gyan.
