Playing Dumb Charades is a national pastime – it is possibly the most popular team game in India after Antakshari. So long as you know it is not 'dum shiraz', but dumb charades, have a decent team, some clearly set out cues (break words, sounds like, another word for, etc.), it can be great fun. And of course, you should have a killer list of the best dumb charades movies Hindi (and English but that is a separate post) to try and fox your opponents.
This is a family fave – so much so that we started to call a cousin Salim when he sprained his ankle and became, well, langda. But careful, this one is known less for its cinematic value and more as a great one for Dumb Charades, so others may have the same idea.
Or Johar Mehmood in Goa – not only are these movies difficult if one hasn’t heard about them, they are also confusing because there are two similar ones.
Yes, there totally is such a movie. When they doubt you about there being such a film, throw some facts at them: it is a 1956 Dev Anand film and it has that marvellous Kishore Kumar song, dukhi man mere, sun mera kehna. And just by the way, there is a more recent Paresh Rawal film – Fun 2 Shh as well… in case you really want to fox them.
So there is Khooni a horror film from the 1940s. Then there are these: Khooni Darwaza, Khooni Panja, Khooni Mahal, Khooni Raat, Khooni Murda, Khooni No 1, Khooni Dracula, Khooni Ilaka, Khooni Ped, Khooni Train, Khooni Kangan, Khooni Saya and perhaps some more. Knock yourself out.
I kid you not. This is a film. That got made. That they wrote a script for and which humans acted in. As to why a king and queen wanted sweat, I'm pretty sure known one knows – because this 1978 film is remembered only when people try to think of the best dumb charades movies.
A great one for dumb charades and social commentary as well! And just in case the other side doubts the existence of such a movie, inform that Aditya Pancholi starred in this film. This film is available to watch for free on YouTube in case they still don’t believe you.
This alleged comedy is one that few have heard about though it had Dharmendra, Helen, Jagdeep and Sanjeev Kumar in it – which is of course the genius of it. Again if they doubt you, point them in the direction of YouTube or Daily Motion (on the topic of strange names, I also truly wonder who thought up the name daily motion).
I remember actually seeing this movie billboard at a theatre in rural Punjab once many, many moons ago. I thought to myself – no one is ever going to guess this one in Dumb Charades. I also remember wondering whether this Monish Behl movie was just sleaze or horror-sleaze. I never dared to find out.
This bizarre one is another of what I would consider one of the best dumb charade movies. Again if the name sounds unbelievable, assure your opponents that this is in fact a movie that got made. It stars some very fierce-looking gun-toting women including Archana Puran Singh as well as Shashi Kapoor, Shekhar Suman and others. Clearly, it has something to do with fighting against the menace of dowry with bullets. Go play!
