Class X Board Exams For CBSE Are Back From The Next Session In 2017-18

If you are a CBSE student, you cannot forget that day when the government announced that there won't be any more exams for class X. However, that joy has to end, as the education minister has re-considered their decision once again. Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar  said on Monday that government will reintroduce compulsory Class X board examination for CBSE schools from the academic year of 2017-18 . Introduction of Class X board

After a meeting of Union HRD minister Prakash Javadeka and  Rajasthan Education Minister, it was declared that the exams for Class X will now be compulsory once again. As of now, class 10 boards are optional in CBSE.

Reason behind the decision

After declaring this decision, the Education Minister also made clear the reason behind this decision. When the exam had been scrapped and the CCE implemented, the idea was to not make a child feel the pressure of passing or failing in a subject. The way it has been implemented has left children being herded from one grade to another without them acquiring the required levels of knowledge or information. Praising the initiatives taken in school and education sector in Rajasthan, Javadekar said they had managed to bring in a lot of in the quality of education in government schools, this is significant because 25 years ago the state was called “Bimaru”.

Board examination for class V and VIII

Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said that they would also introduce Board Examination for class V and VIII. A proposal for this decision has already been tabled in the Cabinet and a copy will be sent to Parliament soon.

Implementation of the rule

The Minister said that this rule would not be for this session or next two months. The rule would probably be implemented in the 2017-2018 session. However, the final decision is under consideration and would be announced soon.

Modi government working for the improvement

Education minister further said that the Narendra Modi led government is working to improve the basic levels of school education. This will allow to improve the level of curiosity among students and they will start taking a keen interest in doing things. This education scheme will allow students to grow with education.

Planned portal introduced by government for IIT aspirants

Taking the high number of suicides into consideration, the minister  said the government will provide free online coaching to IIT aspirants. The government will also launch a planned portal called, "IIT PAL". "IIT PAL" will have tutorials, discussion forms, lectures, material and other necessary information, that will be provided for free.

Remedy for other children

Due to a high number of complaints received from parents due to there being no exams from Class 1 to 7, the education department said that the government will introduce an evaluation system which will involve benchmark for a student. This will allow the parent as well as a teacher to know where the student stands, much like the growth chart for babies when they are born.
