When we are hearing so many grim stories about coronavirus infections making people terribly sick and even losing their lives, every story of survival and recovery is worthy of celebration. This ambulance driver is one such story. Doctors dealing with sickness, death and grief is another reality of our current times – a doctor dancing to keep up the spirits is another silver lining to this cloud.
This video was shared by ERT Bangalore which is a ‘team of volunteers from different walks of life assisting Emergency Medical Cases’. It appears to be another citizen headed initiative that has stepped in to save people in times of need.
Watching that ambulance driver dance with such vigour and enthusiasm is truly delightful. Clearly, he has recovered his health as well as his spirits and the tweeple found his energy infectious.
There is so much chaos all around, So many are unsure of their recovery or that of loved ones right now. In the midst of all this, this is a story of hope; from someone who deals with the disease day in and day out.
In these times when public resources are stretched to the limit and official agencies are just not able to cope, citizens are self-organising and making a real difference.
We find ways to de-stress and relax in any way we can – this doctor from Assam dances. This helps him deal with his stress and maybe gives more of us a chance to smile – those are some pretty good moves, Doc!
Recently we saw these other dancing doctors as well. When one is stuck in a depressing situation of having to care for sick people; many of them who don’t make it dancing can be a valve to let off some pressure.
We have had people trying to cope with difficult, unprecedented circumstances in any way possible including the dancing doctors we saw earlier.
Doctors, nurses, transport workers, medical lab technicians and other support staff suffering personal losses even as they work each day in difficult circumstances. The doctor has also lost one of his cousins to the virus, say reports.
According to the doctor, the second wave is tougher and “it’s more depressing and disturbing”. He also says that “doctors are psychologically disturbed following their hectic duties, even me.” Dr. Arup Senapati also posted this video a few months ago – he certainly has the moves! I'm sure we all wish him good health, strength and courage – as a doctor and as a dancer.
