Unless one has been living under a rock, one knows how Donald Trump was de-platformed from most major social networks after what was seen as his role in the Capitol Insurrection of January 2021. That was like taking away his favourite toy, a bullhorn that the Donald was not best pleased to relinquish. And since he has always whined about his posts being fact-checked he decided to launch his own and call his platform Truth Social.
#TruthSoical went live and this is where Trump supporters hoped to congregate and share their version of the facts; alternative facts to be precise.
Like retweet. OK, so they are not too big on originality here.
The app quickly topped the app charts on the App Store. As of now, it is available only in the USA and Canada.
People are not impressed. However, they do hope that some of the toxicity on Twitter will migrate to this new platform.
Some feel that Truth Social is going to be so successful that Twitter will be abandoned.
So like the boy other kids didn’t want to play with because he cheats, the Donald set up his own soapbox to yell from.
Detractors of Trump pointed out how the ex-president’s supporters seem to be congregating here en masse.
Many of Trump's supporters are known white supremacists and the former President was seen to go soft on these groups repeatedly.
Trump’s social platform will be a space for bigots to perpetuate misinformation, bigotry and hate, feel people; not a place where diversity is welcome
Political satirist Mr. Newberger is of the view that the platform will compromise privacy and private information and open users up to fraud attacks.
Say what you will about Trump but the man was entertaining – providing never-ending grist for the content mill. Joe Biden is dull!
Unfortunately for Trump and his fanboys/girls, the social media app ran into some glitches soon after launch.
For someone who claims to be a brilliant business man, Trump ventures have been notoriously unsuccessful and shady.
It takes some doing to turn a casino into a loss making enterprise, but Trump managed.
Trump had made promises as president that were never fulfilled --- like Mexico being made to pay for the wall at America’s southern border.
…Twitter! Oh, the irony!
A political associate and CEO of the Trump Media & Technology Group tried to explain that the Truth Social platform would not be fully functional till later next month.
