A take-it-if-you-can dare and a 20 kg gold bar up for grabs – quite literally! Dubai airport is always a great place to visit, recently it became even better because of the gold bar challenge. So this is what happened when people tried to get at the bar – the many unsuccessful attempts and the one successful one:
It is a 20 kg gold bar inside a glass enclosure with a small opening. The challenge is to try and get it out. The one who manages to do this gets to keep it.
There was some disagreement about the weight of the gold brick to be lifted. A standard gold bar weighs about 27 pounds. While that is considerably less than 20 kg (which is about 44 pounds), it is still a tall ask. And the real challenge is to use only finger strength to remove the object from such a small opening.
Some people around wanted to know if this was allowed. Breaking the glass would make things a lot simpler.
And failed!
Seeing how very difficult it is to get a heavy object out of a small opening, various ideas occurred to people.
It was all rather frustrating – being that close to an actual treasure; but being unable to access it.

As the people tried their hand at the challenge one after another, there was a lot of tension and anticipation around to see who succeeded.
This man seemed to go about it quite methodically and was rewarded for it when he was finally able to get it out. He would have departed a rich – and very satisfied man!
