Eccentric Brazilian Billionaire Decides To Bury His Luxury Car So He Can Go For A Drive After Death

In Brazil, Count Chiquinho Scarpa is known as an eccentric billionaire. He has made some larger than life revelations such as bedding the Princess of Monaco and other really wile shenanigans that one has come to associate with the rich and the princely. But the billionaire Scarpa went a several miles ahead recently with one bizarre move that got the Brazilian media talking.

1. A burial for his car?

The eccentric billionaire announced that he intended to bury one of the most prized possessions of his life, a $ 50,000 Bentley six feet under. He declared that though the car was one of the mightiest and loveliest of all his possessions, he intended to bury it soon enough and that too in the premises of his own house.

2. A fashion akin to those of Egyptian Pharos

Count Scarpa revealed that he was influenced deeply by the lifestyle and the death-celebrations of the erstwhile Egyptian Pharos having decided about 'the burial of the luxury car' in the immediate aftermath of having watched a documentary about Egypt and its then rulers at his home in Brazil.

3. An announcement that got all media talking

Count Chiquinho Scarpa, is unarguably one of the most famous Brazilians in contemporary society after the legendary Ayrton Senna. He is keenly followed on social media and is a trendsetter in the high end spectrum of Brazil's rich and elite. The moment Count Scarpa announced on Facebook his plans to bury $500,000, the news spiraled into a social media sensation, drawing huge responses even from the US media.

4.What the funeral entailed

On the day of the funeral of his ultra-luxurious Bentley, a big hole was dug into the ground at his house premises. At the same time, amidst a large crowd gathering and sputtering video cameras, it was noticed amidst widespread speculation of the bizarre move that it was the National Organ Donation week.

5. A telling tale of Count Scarpa

The Brazilian intended that each year, hundreds of thousands of Brazilians die as do several people around the world. They perish with many an ably functioning organ without realizing that so many of these vital organs could save many lives around and therefore, become a new 'life source'. So he asked, 'is there anything worth living for if we cannot be of any help and support to our fellow human beings. Why live with these worldly possessions that are of no good'. He further added, ' it is absurd to bury your organs, which can save many lives around'. True that indeed!

6. An amazing advertising stunt

Acclaimed and multi-award winning ad firm Leo Burnett gimmicked the entire campaign and thus conceiving the idea of Count Scarpa burying his car, live in alliance with the all important message for the public at the time of the 'National Organ Donation Week'. The entire act was beautifully staged in order to give audiences a 'live message' to act upon an important and crushingly valid need of the hour.

7. So what do the stats entail

It turns out that each year, in the US alone, 121,678 people await lifesaving organ transplant. Amidst these are 100,791 awaiting kidney transplants. In 2014, about 17 thousand kidney transplants happened in the US, of which 11,570 came from deceased patients.

8. Sad stats about organ donation in India that indicate the time to move is now

The above figure is different when you speak of India. Sadly, 500,000 people in India die due to non-availability of organs. The main culprit being no suitable donor. In present day India, the need for organ donation is vital and of crushing importance.

9. Donate organs, save lives

We must live a whole-hearted life and at the same time think of how we can benefit and aid lives around even in our deaths; i.e., no one is going to use his or her organs in times of death. So instead, a better course of action is to donate one's organs.
