It is our endeavour to try and find and find viral content other than the overarching issue of the coronavirus pandemic. It is a viral post about drunk elephants that caught the eye recently. Check this out – it seems that a couple of elephants got drunk in China and the tweeple were loving it:
A herd of elephants got more than they bargained for. According to several Twitter posts, they encountered and devoured corn wine and some of them ended up passing out in a tea garden.
Those elephants are undoubtedly cute; recalling other elephants to mind, such as these Heffalumps from the Winnie the Pooh stories.
The elephants would have caused untold damage as they blundered about in their drunk state --- ‘trunk and disorderly’ as one tweet put it.
Drunk and passed out with one's besties – for some, it was a case of been there done that.
The tweeple felt that one good turn deserves another and some proceeded to share images of Dumbo the baby elephant.
That wine must have been strong stuff, conjectured the tweeple. Another tweet thought that the elephants were likely to wake up with ‘mammoth’ hangovers.
The pictures of those cute elephants made a lot of people smile. At a time when there is a lot of depressing news emanating from China, this is a good thing.
Maybe the farmer was upset, maybe not. He did, however, take some good pictures of the elephants.
While we human beings are assiduously avoiding contact, these elephants are clearly having a good old party, says this commentator.
Some feared that the elephants were dead and were relieved to know they were only sleeping.
A number of people quoted this National Geographic article to suggest that this is probably not a true story. It takes a lot to get elephants drunk, says the study quoted in the article. These elephants are more likely to simply have fallen asleep, feel some experts.
Well drunk, passed out or just asleep, these elephants are still really cute and they still manage to raise smiles and brighten up one's day.
