There is an alarming increase in cases of trial room voyeurism, which is not only a horrific breach of an individual’s privacy, but is downright scary too, given the rate of sexual crimes in our country. Here are a two quick and easy ways in which you can ensure privacy before you step into the trial room.
Check the Mirror – Is it two-way?
There is a very simple way to find that out. Just place your finger nail on the mirror, and if you see a gap between the reflection and actual finger, then this is a perfectly normal mirror. If not, then this is a two-way mirror. You can also try peering through the glass, blocking or the light, so you can actually see if there is any room on the other side. Lastly, do a torch test and flash the light on the mirror. If it is a two-way one, it will show the other side.
Call Test
Try placing a call while you are inside the trial room. If your call goes through without a hitch, then there is nothing fishy. However, if there is a hidden camera, there will be definite network issues. This is not definite test though, as you can only be sure of disruptive network being the culprit, as long as you know that it was working perfectly fine outside the trial room.
So the next time you go on a shopping spree and want to try that gorgeous attire, make sure that you do these two tests. After all, better safe than sorry.
Plan Ahead
If you know you are going shopping then wear the right clothes for minimum exposure in a change room to any kind of prying eyes or technology. For. e.g. wear a spaghetti top under your shirt so that you don’t have to strip all the way or wear a long kurta with jeans when going shopping for bottoms to, once again, have minimal exposure while trying on stuff.
