The sun is the source of all our power and we continue to discover more and more about this wondrous, life-giving orb. Scientists have recorded the cosmic hum that the sun produces (it is another matter that some interpreted that hum as they wished). Now scientists have captured high-resolution images of the sun and they look nothing like we – or the tweeple – expected. In fact, people had rather varied interpretations of the “first detailed images of the sun’s surface.”
American agency, the National Science Foundation released the first detailed images of the sun’s surface. These images are produced by the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope which will play a critical role in understanding the sun and space weather.
People interested in science and astrophysics, were obviously amazed and delighted at see these images. It is father fascinating to know a bit more about what our sun is like, up close.
For many of the tweeple this was just a new opportunity to start with the jokes.
The image looked like honey nut bars said one commentator.
Peanut brittle said some of the others.
It is Maganlal Chikki said many of the Indian commentators. Those who are familiar with the legendary confectioner in Lonavala saw an amazing resemblance to good old chikki.
A lot of the tweeple thought that the image has a remarkable resemblance to caramel popcorn or Cracker Jacks.
Some thought of corn.
Evidently, more than a few of the tweeple were hungry and craving something sweet when they saw those close-up images of the sun. That would explain all the food references.
They saw the stylised T of a Tesla logo in there somewhere.
That was my first reaction as well.
Gold teeth in this case.
The sun’s high-resolution image is like the glowstone (light-emitting block) that gamers seek to acquire while playing said some.
For some eyes, this is what the sun's surface looks like.
This commentator obviously has a different idea of what the sun should look like.
Some were reminded of The Thing from the Fantastic Four. Perspective is really interesting isn't it? One person’s #SolarVision2020 is another’s food; the #sun is obviously different things to different people.
