Breaking and entering is a crime, right? It is punishable in any civilized society --- unless the one doing the breaking and entering is not human. This is the story of Hank (the Tank) a bear that the police are looking for. However, people on social media are coming out in defence of the bear who apparently ‘just wants to eat’.
If he is caught he will be put to death. He isn't dangerous – he just wants to eat, argue netizens. He doesn’t even growl or make rude faces, apparently.
However there are many who feel that a bear that breaks into homes and terrorizes people is a menace that needs to be curbed. Bears are also known to cause destruction in fields, pointed out others.
The fact is that bears and other wild animals can become what human’s call a ‘nuisance’ because humans destroy or encroach upon their habitat or destroy their food sources in the first place.
There are those who feel that the bear wouldn’t be dangerous so why think about putting him down?
Many suggested relocating the animal, as in this other instance. However, relocating a large meat-eating predator is a different thing altogether others pointed out. Conflict with other animals can be a problem while relocating.
The authorities say they may have to euthanise the bear if there is no other option. Apparently other sanctuaries are too full – really? America is kind of big.
This is true – a bear who is this famous? People would pay money to come see him.
Who doesn’t! People are pointing out that this is a particularly rotund bear and the unhealthy eating habits of some Americans may have something to do with that.
This is now a very famous bear, even if he himself is unaware of it.
People have a lot of sympathy for Hank. Some even want to invite him in for dinner.
Hank has caught the attention of a lot of people
For a happy ending
The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado has offered to take Hank. They have offered to come and get him. It seems like Hank the Tank may have a happy ending after all.
