The wax statue of the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump was recently unveiled. In attendance was former White House spokesperson Sean Spicer. He seemed happy; and Twitter seemed even happier. But this is far from the only time Spicer made us laugh out loud!
Madame Tussauds, New York tweeted this to announce the unveiling of the FLOTUS's statue as a part of a larger installation called “Give Melania a Voice”.
Spicer, who earlier left the Trump administration, made a comeback to unveil the statue and felt that it was very lifelike. The Tweeple of course weren’t very interested in this; they felt it was rather ironical that Spicer was grinning from ear-to-ear while the First Lady herself was absent. The irony is particularly acute in light of reports of her physically and figuratively distancing herself from her philandering husband.
While one tweet pointed out that the wax Melania also keeps a safe distance from Trump (as does the real Melania) another pointed out that “The wax one has the same range of emotions that the live one does.”
Inevitably, the Tweeple pointed out that the wax work of Melania Trump bears an uncanny resemblance to Laura Benanti (rather than Melania), who often plays the First Lady in satirical sketches on TV shows.
One cannot help feel terribly sorry for the FLOTUS as her husband lurches from one to the other sex scandal: stories such as getting caught boasting about sexual harassment, the scandal about her husband sleeping with a porn star while being married to Melania, and so many, many more. While late-show hosts clearly feel sorry her as well, that doesn’t stop them from creating satirical send-ups of the first couple of the country!
With the President’s penchant for making outlandish and demonstrably untrue statements and declaring anything he doesn’t like as ‘fake’, Spicer always had a tough road to hoe. This video collects together some of the many occasions he found himself having to explain away the President’s inexplicable behavior and defend his indefensible conduct. We can laugh or we can cry!
During the early days of the Trump administration, as White House press secretary, it was Sean Spicer who felt the heat of being featured in late-show sketches. If poor Spicer was unintentionally funny, Melissa McCarthy’s merciless sketch is very deliberately so. Watch Melissa McCarthy on Saturday Night Live as she completely savages poor Spicer.
Sean Spicer had to defend his president and himself but also had to appear to be a good sport. Watch his cameo at the 2017 Emmys as Sean Spicer made us laugh – intentionally this time.
