UAE Does it Again- New Guinness World Record for the "World's Largest Aerial Projection Screen"

UAE is one of the fastest-growing countries of the Middle East. After having set the world record in world’s largest flower arrangement and world’s largest environment sustainability lesson, recently UAE set another world record with the world’s largest aerial projection screen in the Dubai Sky Line.

This new world record saw an aerial screen measuring 42.15 metres in width and 92.49 metres in length soar across the shimmery skyline of Dubai.

Who did it?

The Dubai real-estate developer and management company, Wasl Asset Management Group was the one to obtain the Guinness World Record title for the largest aerial projection screen, which took to the skies in celebration of the ‘Year of Zayed 2018’.

This is to commemorate the values and vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, that the Wasl Group has been trying to propagate.

The Record!

The record was made with a 300-foot aerial screen that was towed by a Bell 212 Helicopter, while another Bell 212 projected the video using augmented reality tracking and live-projection mapping. This was done to display a short film about ‘Year of Zayed', and to provide the public with a visual tribute to the Founding Father's life and his values. People almost 3 kms away could view the screen. It was that magnificent.

What are they saying about it?

“We are delighted to have celebrated the ‘Year of Zayed 2018’ in a memorable and ambitious way that captures the late founding father’s pioneering spirit and strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a leader in achieving world firsts", the CEO of Wasl Asset Management Group, Hesham al-Qasim said.

Country Manager of Guinness World Records MENA Talal Omar said: “Dubai has set the stage for numerous record-breaking successes over the years and we are delighted to be part of the celebrations of another new Guinness World Records title by Wasl Asset Management Group.”

The previous record

This world record has only been accomplished once before in New York City, when the record was originally set by a 250 foot screen. Dubai’s 300-foot screen was almost 50 feet larger than the screen that held the previous record.

Use of high-end technology like Augmented Reality gives us a clear peak into the fast-growing technological ability of UAE and how it will go on to become one of the fastest-growing economies very soon.

Try to imagine the grandeur of the event that took place and what a sight it would have been to see it in person at night on the Dubai skyline!
