Dubai is a world city in every sense of the world – among other things, it is a modern high tech place that people love to visit and to live in. Recent reports suggest that there will soon be an underwater rail link joining India with Dubai. While this may be sometime in the future, the solar powered AC bus shelters are being tested right now!
According to reports, the UAE is looking to develop an underwater travel network that goes beyond the conventional modes of travel.
At the UAE-India Conclave in Abu Dhabi, National Advisor Bureau Limited shared the plans to create this underwater train concept. MD and Chief Consultant Abdullah Alshhehi was reported as having said “We plan to connect Indian city of Mumbai with Fujairah through ultra-speed floating trains.”
Alshhehi also said that “The project aims to boost bilateral trade. There will be export of oil to India from Fujairah port and import of excess water from Narmada River, north of Mumbai.” The water and oil trade will be carried out via pipelines. The Mumbai – Dubai sea link rail will be about 2000 km in length.
Dubai will soon also have the distinction of having driverless cars on its roads. These autonomous cars will see a rollout on Dubai’s roads soon and will be available for public use.
Also in the pipeline is a hyperloop project; a super high speed travel concept that will cut travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to just 12 minutes from the hour and half that it takes now.
Now, for locations that are off the power grid, solar energy will be used to power bus shelters. Solar power will run the air conditioners, billboards and lights at the bus shelters. Dubai already has 48 AC bus shelters, with more to be added to that list. This will make things easier for commuters and encourage them to use public transport even during the hot summer months.
