We know about the terrorists that entered into Kashmir via the Line of Control from Pakistan occupied territories and the Uri attack that killed 18 soldiers (17 were killed and one more soldier succumbed to his injuries later) in a pre dawn ambush attack upon an Indian army post. More news is trickling in about the Indian army foiling more infiltrations bids along the LOC, the death of one more soldier, the neutralizing of several terrorists and the possible routes that were taken by the terrorist to enter India form the Pakistani side.
After the attack on Sunday that resulted in 18 of our soldiers dying, the Indian army foiled large scale infiltration bids by eliminating 12 to 15 terrorists. In this subsequent encounter one more soldier lost his life and two others were injured.
Firstly the terrorists have crossed over to Indian Territory from the Pakistani side via the LOC with overt or covert help from the other side. The second point of entry was at the army base perimeter where the wire fences were seen to be cut.
According to a defence analyst, Uri in Baramullah district is so close to the LOC that it is possible to actually look at the army camp, the barracks, tents and troops from the LOC.
The terrorists could have used several points along the LOC, avoiding points where the Indian army has a stronger presence.
Several other attacks on army installations, para military forces and civilian areas have also originated from the Pakistani side.
Though it is one of the worst victims of terror attacks, Pakistan continues to foster and abet terrorists; continuing its dangerous dual policy on terror.
An arrested LeT terrorist operative has testified that the Pakistani army is helping terrorists infiltrate into India. And the many incursions into India from Pakistan also points to Pak army complicity in attacks on the Indian defence personnel and civilians.
Some years back, Hillary Clinton issued this warning to the Pakistanis about being the victim of terror while encouraging home grown terror and about facilitating incursions into the Indian territory.
Yesterday, US Secretary of State John Kerry had this message for Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif: “prevent terrorists from using Pakistani territory as safe havens". John Kerry was expressing his concern over the Uri incident and the ongoing violence in Kashmir.
Pakistan has suffered at least 14 major terror attacks in Pakistan just this year. The horrific attack on the Peshawar school is still fresh in the world’s memory. Does Pakistan not get the significance of this? Is hatred stronger than love?
