The second wave or should we say tsunami of the pandemic is upon us and we continue to see lakhs of new cases a day. Proper mask-wearing and physical distancing continue to be the most effective defence against getting infected. The mantra now is double masking as the Mumbai police and many others recommend.
The importance of double masking is an important message to send out – since this is seen to significantly improve one's protection against the virus. Correct double masking is significantly more effective against the virus.
Don’t go out unless you have to and double- mask when you do. The Mumbai Police tweeted this image of Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape.
Some pointed out the error in the Mumbai Police tweet - Severus Snape appeared to be wearing two surgical masks. This is not the right way to double-mask.
Take care to use clean masks, ensure you can breathe properly and handle the mask correctly, by the strings or loops.
The newer strains of the corona virus are more contagious and hence require special care.
There are things we can do collectively as well as personally to try and minimize exposure, which contributes to breaking the chain of contagion. It is important to understand that we have to act responsibly – because this not only to protect us but also others around us.
