When I was living in Mumbai, I remember how for a couple of days in a year, we would suddenly see wool caps and mufflers appear as if by magic. A few people would arrive in the office clad in warm jackets – because they commuted all the way from Virar, where it’s practically snowing, they tell us. So when the temperature drops a bit in Mumbai – Delhi people would barely notice – #MumbaiWinter memes happen:
It’s different.
They have only a few days of the year when they can wear their ‘hill station’ clothes in town.
…Below 20 degrees.
It is like this in 'winter'.
These few days of the year give Mumbaikars boasting rights.
Mumbai people were quite overcome with joy – cool winds, clear skies and the ocean!
Unseasonal Rain is the reason for the lower temperatures, clear skies and low pollution levels.

Mumbai folks are ill-equipped for this. They don’t possess sweaters, caps, blankets, jackets
In Mumbai, they are not.
Things are different – things like bathing.
Winter descends on Mumbai for a few days each year.
It is rare for temperatures to dip in Mumbai – when that does happen, people make the most of it.
Herbal green tea is a popular drink in Kashmir during winter – and apparently in Mumbai as well.
Brrrr!
A bonfire? For warmth? In Mumbai?
Sometimes they switch off their fan and A/c in Mumbai.
When they switch off the fans in Mumbai locals, that is really something.
They bring out the sweaters and shawls from the mothballs.
For some days, Mumbai doesn’t feel like Mumbai and people are determined to enjoy #MumbaiWinter.
