Some of us may have our reservations with regard to the working conditions of Zomato delivery persons, however, there is no doubt that the company provides valuable services. Food delivery companies such as Zomato and Swiggy became all the more relevant recently when we couldn’t go to restaurants and they brought the restaurant to us in a sense. Many depend upon these apps to call for food in offices, in hostels or just to take a break from the daily drudgery of cooking. So when Zomato and Swiggy were down, people had a lot to say.
Swiggy and Zomato were both down due to a glitch on Amazon web services and people were not able to place orders.
People had their own theories.
People noticed when they got hungry. They realised how much they rely on these services.
People were not able to place their orders as usual - or on that one day when they decided to order food from outside.
…With what was available.
Some decided to step out to other restaurants close by.
They did better business than usual.
The heat! The inconvenience of having to run one's own errands!
There are hungry people waiting and delivery people dashing from A to B to satisfy that hunger.
Some were annoyed and they said they had little faith in the 10 minute Maggi delivery promise given that the whole service seemed to be down.
Like this or like that other problem: offering a “50% discount” promo that is “subject to maximum discount of Rs. 50”. Annoying!
Because they were hungry.

Maybe they should learn – it isn't rocket science after all. Homemakers cook each day, thrice a day at least.
…Because apparently they don’t order from elsewhere. They like food cooked by their mother.
I notice that they don’t seem to like their own cooking – here as well, someone else is doing the cooking for them.
There are those who order on Swiggy and Zomato simply because they enjoy food and like variety in what they eat. The two apps going down simultaneously would have been tough for them.
Soon however, the outage was resolved and people could once again order from Zomato and Swiggy.
