The Rio 2016 Paralympics starts today and just like the Rio Olympics, India has sent its largest ever contingent for this event as well. The games will take place from 7-18 September and will see 19 athletes from India.
She is one of the most inspirational athletes representing India. This 45 year old is an accomplished swimmer, adventure sports player, international athlete, biker, as well as an entrepreneur. Unfortunately, not much know about her.
He became the first Paralympic gold medalist in Athens in 2004 and this will be his fourth edition. We hope to see a gold from him this time as well.

This time our Sports Ministry is already alert and has promised the India gold medalist from Paralympics Rs. 75 lakhs, silver medalist Rs. 50 and bronze Rs. 30 lakhs each. However, how much support they got for the preparation of the game is a completely different question.
Our performance in the previous Paralympic Games have been quite impressive with two glods, three silvers and three bronzes. From these, one gold, three silver and two bronze medals came from athetics while swimming and powerlifting has given us a gold and bronze respectively.
