Look At All The Cars Of The Olympic Games

The Rio Olympics kick started just a few days back and saw the athelets and the cars that followed those athletes. The smart and trendy line of cars is as much a treat for the eyes as the sport in itself. Do you know all the official Olympic cars so far? Here's something that will make you go Wow!

1. Rio 2016: Nissan

Among others, more than 200 Nissan cars would make a mind blowing sight at the Rio this year. Nissan is all set to sell off a large amount of Nissan units there. Along with this, Nissan will also supply a fleet including the March (Micra), Versa, Sentra, Altima and Frontier.

2. London 2012: BMW

London hosted the Olympics in 2012 and most of the awards were bagged by Great Britain.  As a sponsor, BMW supplied a fleet of more than 4,000 vehicles, 1,550 of which were 320d saloons.

3. Beijing 2008: Volkswagen

As the sole and main sponsor, Volkswagen supplied about 6,000 vehicles, including 4,350 VWs, 650 Skodas, and 1,000 Audis. It was for the first time when golf was played at the Olympic since 1904.

4. Athens 2004: Hyundai

Hyundai Getz was the official car of Athens 2004 along with Phevos and Athena, the official mascots of Athens 2004. These mascots  were used to symbolize the link between Ancient Greece and the modern Olympic Games.

5. Sydney 2000: Holden

To mark itself as the official vehicle involved in the Olympics, 2002 Holden launched a range of Olympic Edition vehicles. There were cars launched which would carry Olympic torch for the Australian leg of the torch relay.

6. Atlanta 1996: Buick Regal Olympic Edition

With  44 gold, 32 silver and 25 bronze, team USA dominated the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. Buick Regal Olympic Edition was the one of the best and motivational feature observed in the games.

7. Barcelona 1992: SEAT

The SEAT Ibiza was the official car of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. It was a great year for all the sports enthusiasts,  Britain’s Linford Christie took gold in the 100m, despite SEAT’s best efforts to obstruct him by placing on the track.

8. Seoul 1988: Hyundai Stellar Gold Medal

To mark Hyundai as one of the main sponsors of the event, Hyundai Stellar Gold Medal was launched.  The stellar is one of the best cars in the UK with just 10 units left behind on the road.

9. Los Angeles 1984: Buick Century Olympia

The car was promoted something like  this, “Few of us can be Olympians, but some of us can own the car that captures the winning spirit of America’s contenders – the special edition 1984 Buick Century Olympia”.

10. Moscow 1980: RAF-2907

There were approximately 300 units of RAF built along with one that was specially modified to carry the Olympic game. This minibus was used throughout the Olympics in 1980.
