In this ever-connected age of ours where our phones are pretty much the extension of our arms, being disconnected really troubles us. When social media is down we are beset with a major sense of FOMO. When the network is down and our internet connection is severed altogether, those feelings can really escalate – which happened when the Jio network was down:
People were wondering what the problem was – their network or something else?
If global giants such as Facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp can have hours-long outages, why not Jio?
Thousands of users were facing connectivity issues.
Jio had a stock answer for anyone who complained: inconvenience regretted, but there is pretty much nothing you can do, sort of response.
It was raining memes – memes about Mukesh Ambani, his network Jio and more.
Some network users weren't affected and were wondering why #Jio was trending.
It didn’t stop them from tweeting with the #JioDown hashtag – over Jio network.
Now
The 5G network for Jio was announced some time last year and that services would be rolled out in the second half of this year.
Or feeling sad for other, less fortunate people?
Definitely happy.
Wait! There are BSNL users? Still?
Many were fed up enough with Jio to want to port their number to another service provider.
When Jio first launched, subscribers, got lots of freebies and the promise of top-notch connectivity. That has changed, feel users.
The network being down and being unable to connect to the internet makes people feel like this.
Some joked IPL rivalries may be responsible. The Jio network may have been down, but the imagination of some – particularly with regard to making memes – seems to have no downtime.
