I find that I have a little USB rechargeable fan nestled in my bag, a rechargeable lamp near my keyboard, a nifty bicycle torch and numerous interesting gadgets recently added to my kitchen. I blame all of my gadget posts for this. It’s a case of I see, I want and Amazon, Flipkart etc. deliver. So here are some Diwali gadgets that are bound to make me reach for my phone shopping apps.
Diwali ki Safai is on everywhere and even cars get some deep cleaning at this time. This little vacuum cleaner can be a useful thing not just for Diwali but to keep in the car to mop up the snack crumbs, dust and so on even otherwise. This easily plugs into the car's power socket and there are many models available for under Rs. 1000.
I may be in the minority but I feel that Diwali lights look best when they are just one colour – and that white or warm white/ yellow look best. They come in simple round shapes, floral shapes, star shapes and more – lots of very aesthetic options. Use them inside the home for accent lighting or outside – on the balcony, in the garden, draped on trees or shrubs. In my house we set up our Diwali lights and leave them on until after Christmas – because any excuse for festivity is a good one!
OK so this one isn't specific to Diwali, but this is the sort of Diwali gift I would love to receive – beats mithai and chocolate for sure. This mug has a built-in stirrer, with insulated walls and a lockable lid to keep beverages hot for longer. Capacity is 350 ml – ideal for most requirements.
This is a plug and play device that instantly ups the festive mood by projecting Diwali motifs – diyas, Happy Diwali message, auspicious swastiks etc. A little like a disco ball, this one may be a fun thing to have around if you're having a party, a card playing get-together or for an outdoor area like a porch etc.
I do think this detracts from the tradition of lighting diyas around and outside the home on Diwali, but in a pinch, these can be really convenient. Plus the wind won’t blow them, they won't die out and there is zero effort /mess involved.
Another option is to get the individual, battery-powered ones in candle shapes that you can use even otherwise around the home. you can get these in single warm-white colour or in various different colours as well.
If you're expecting a lot of guests, serving water can be an issue. You don’t want to have to overturn heavy water bottles onto the water dispenser every now and again. Simply fit this wireless water dispenser atop the bottle and avoid all the heavy lifting.
This Bluetooth speaker seems great for the Diwali theme since it lights up while playing music cordlessly. Even other than Diwali, this would be great for the Pooja area, the taash-party and so on. Since I couldn’t find reviews of the product I cannot vouch for the sound, but for some, this could make sense as a Diwali gadget or a Diwali gift.
