What with the nasty coronavirus refusing to leave like some importunate, unwelcome guest, many of us haven’t been to a so-called beauty parlour in a very long time. Some of us are reluctant to be inside enclosed spaces with strangers along with many shared surfaces. And then some of us find that salons of choice are still not open or have gone out of business. So, if we are to enjoy the level of personal grooming that we did in pre-COVID times, some of these gadgets will help.

Beware though – this pulls out hair one by one and may be more painful than waxing for some.

I am someone who fully believes in embracing one’s own curls – I have done so all my life, after all. However there are times when a woman wants to get rid of the frizz and tame all those curls into a smooth fall of straight, glamorous looking hair. An at-home hair straightener can offer salon like smooth hair --- if you have tamable hair and don’t live in Mumbai (humidity will restore natural curls within minutes in my experience).
We must of course embrace our straight hair as much as our curls, but the heart wants what the heart doesn’t have, ergo some of us want curly hair. I have never had the patience to sit through a facial, but I know lots of people who love getting facials. They find them invigorating and feel that facials smoothen and brighten their skin. This at home salon gadget can help to clean and massage the face much like the salon professional. So while it may not be possible to replicate the personal pampering one enjoys at the salon, one can at least get the grooming right at home.
