Quote Tweet With Reaction? But We Wanted an Edit Button Said the Tweeple

There is a reason we humans want to be able to Ctrl + Z – undo – bits of our life. We make mistakes and want to be able to undo them.  We can edit Facebook posts and comments, we can unsend WhatsApp messages. The tweeple have been asking for an ‘Edit’ button forever and that wasn’t at all an unreasonable ask. We never got that edit button, instead what we got is the ‘quote tweet with reaction’ functionality.

This announcement

This new function is being tested out on iOS: letting tweeple react to tweets with a reaction video or a photo – a customised take on a tweet.

Hmmm

Some were not impressed and wondered whether this feature would last.

Also…

Why only iOS?

This old demand

Give us an edit button.

On repeat

Countless demands – over the years.

Not a good idea

What if I retweet something and the original tweet got edited to something different? For a while the tweeple argued about this – again.

What about this!

We've been asking for a bookmarks folder option, Twitter!

What?

This is like TikTok! Twitter is not supposed to be TikTok!

Remember Twitter Spaces?

People didn’t want that either. Also Twitter has this avuncular way of warning people against using offensive language – which users don’t appreciate much.

What happened to Fleets?

Twitter had launched fleets – tweets that disappeared after some time, like Facebook and Instagram stories.

Fleets were fleeting

Some really want them back.

Also why?

We can already do this, points out this tweet.

Not a good idea!

It won’t be pretty this tweet seems to warn.

Some liked the idea

They liked the idea of demonstrating their anger/approval/happiness/sadness using more than some generic gif or emoticon.

Others have their doubts

Isn't this just going to be another tool for harassment and abuse?

Annoyed!

This happens – because muscle memory!

Some…

Just harped on this

Tweeple tried it out

Some liked the “quote tweet with reaction” feature – most were like just fix all the issues that already exist before giving us features we didn’t ask for…
