When they first put a camera in a phone some people scoffed, saying this would never catch on. Fast forward about 15 years and we can scarcely imagine a phone that has no camera. In fact, it is difficult to find a phone without a camera (a requirement for fauji personnel). The quality of the camera could well decide one’s choice of smartphone today. We look at some of the best phone cameras – including some budget options below Rs. 30,000, Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000.
More than one tech site has rated this flagship Huawei phone to have the best phone camera available in the world right now. The camera is excellent for capturing night images, low light photos, has accurate autofocus, and good zoom. It has a 50MP f/1.9 main camera, a 12MP f/3.4 periscope one and 20MP f/1.8 ultra-wide one. However, at about Rs.128K, the phone's price point may be the deterrent in spite of being the one with top-end camera.
When Galaxy Note, the first phablet phone was launched almost a decade ago, it was considered to have the most amazing phone camera. Now, the Galaxy Note 20 continues the tradition of excellent phone cameras. The telephoto camera features 5x optical and 50x digital zoom, the Single Take mode, and 8K video which recommend themselves. The phone is also recommended for the creating the best bokeh effect (the blurry background effect that signals high-end cameras). However, retailing at about Rs. 105K, this one is steeply priced.
The iPhone camera is sort of its USP – witness the number of ads that speak about the camera. Its large light-absorbing sensor takes great pictures at night, the Smart HDR 3 has a range of impressive capabilities. Dolby Vision support for videos and onboard editing options also recommend the iPhone camera. Of course it is prohibitively expensive --- at Rs. 135K.
The OnePlus Nord 5G is priced at one rupee below 30K and boasts 48MP+8MP+5MP+2MP quad rear camera along with 32MP+8MP front dual camera. As a longtime OnePlus user myself, I recommend this phone rather than this camera, for extremely user-friendly features and an affordable price point.
The Realme 7 Pro phone features a Sony 64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP | 32MP Front Camera that features a Sony Sensor. The 8MP ultra-wide lens, portrait B/W lens, 2MP Macro lens and 32MP in display selfie camera are some features that recommend this camera phone.
The Motorola E7 Plus features a 48MP + 2MP | 8MP Front Camera. The dedicated light mode does a decent job in low light according to reviewers but the overall performance is much better in daylight than in low light conditions. However at a price point of ₹9,499 with a further discount on exchange, this one does recommend itself as a budget phone with a decent camera.
