Check Out Trailers of Mumbai Saga, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Pagglait & Time to Dance

This last week saw the release of the trailers of some promising upcoming films, some rather less promising. Check out the trailers of Mumbai Saga starring John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi and Suniel Shetty, Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt, Pagglait starring Sanya Malhotra and Time to Dance starring Sooraj Pancholi and Isabelle Kaif.

Time to Dance

This one stars Isabelle, the sister of Katrina Kaif and Sooraj, the son of Aditya Pancholi in a trailer that seems strictly ho-hum. From the trailer, it would appear that we have an earnest-looking lead pair who may or may not be able to dance but appear to be equipped with the requisite washboard abs and pretty face. We are told that Pancholi plays a street dancer (whatever the **** that is supposed to be) and Kaif is a ballroom Latin dancer. There seems to be the unidimensional villain, some contrived conflict, probably some undying love and so on.  This one releases on 12th March but I am not holding my breath.

Mumbai Saga

Most of the trailer consists of some fairly gory violence, a lot of testosterone-fuelled male posturing. So basically nothing we haven’t seen in a hundred other films about the Mumbai ‘underworld’ and the cop who fights against it. Starring John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, and others, it claims to be based on true events. The movie is set in the Mumbai of the 80s and 90s when mills were shutting down; which then made way for high rise buildings and malls. The movie will release on 19 March 2021.

Pagglait

This is a comedy featuring Sanya Malhotra as a recently widowed woman. This is a woman who is quite unmoved by the passing of her husband. Unlike the grief she felt at the dying of her pet cat when she was a child, she feels no need to cry and feels quite healthily hungry as well. This one promises to be an unconventional and irreverent look at something that Bollywood has usually treated with lots of tragic rona-dhona: widowhood. The movie releases on Netflix on 26 March 2021.

Gangubai Kathiawadi

This is one of the much-awaited upcoming films and the teaser trailer released recently. This again is a movie based on a real person and events; about a woman called Gangubai Kothewali who was sold into prostitution by her husband. The movie is based on one chapter of a book tilted Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaid and tells the story of the woman who became a madam in the infamous Kamathipura Red Light area of Mumbai. Alia Bhat looks regale and has great screen presence. Also in the film are Shantanu Maheshwari as Ramnik Lal, the husband, Vijay Raaz and Indira Tiwari. The movie will release on 30th July 2021. This is only a teaser and we can perhaps expect a longer official trailer of Gangubai Kathiawadi in the near future.
