After sharing his wife's remarks related to intolerance, Aamir found himself in the middle of a countrywide controversy. He got emotional on Wednesday and said he was not leaving the country but stands by the very real fears voiced by Kiran.
In a personal conversation Kiran Rao had asked Aamir if it would be safer for their son, if they leave the country because of the rising intolerance in the country. When Aamir innocuously shared this at an awards function the country erupted in objection.
He broke his silence on Wednesday and said, "First let me state categorically that neither I, nor my wife Kiran, have any intention of leaving the country. We never did, and nor would we like to in the future".
He also said that he and Kiran have lived in India all their lives. For the first time, she worries, whether they should move out of India…She feared for her child, she had fears about what the atmosphere around them would be.
He said all those hurling obscenities at him only prove his point further. He thanked all those, who stood by and supported him over the past few days.
