Ever Wonder Why Jeans Pockets Have Tiny Button on Them?

We all have our favorite pair of Jeans but have you ever wondered why do our pockets have tiny buttons on them? Maybe not.

Some might think it is just for fashion or style, but they all are wrong. These tiny buttons serve a very important purpose.

These tiny buttons are known as Rivets, which were invented by a tailor named Jacob Davis, some 200 years back from now. He used to design Jeans for the workmen of San Francisco and Cowboys, who needed rugged pants that wouldn't rip on the job.

Initially, he used to repair it with stitches until he got an idea and started using copper rivets on jeans to keep them from tearing and to increase the overall tearing strength.

Later in 1870's, he collaborated with Levis Strauss and since then these rivets are attached to jeans to prevent them from tearing or ripping off.

Wow...it sort of makes sense, now that we think about where they are placed and thanks to Jacob Davis, we absolutely like the idea.

So, that's how history was made. Riveted jeans became wildly popular, and the style has stuck ever since.
