A 35-foot-long dead whale drew large crowds on Mumbai's popular Juhu beach on Friday. As the news spread, hundreds of people swarmed to the beach trying to take pictures.
Assistant Conservator of Forest, Makrand Ghodke was quoted as saying, 'From initial examination, the whale seems to have died a day or two back. It bloated and was then carried in by the tide to the beach'.
He further added, 'We will deflate the carcass on the beach itself, otherwise it could explode'. Experts believe the whale may explode because of the build-up of gas inside its decomposing body.
